I’m checking out hootsuite, a nifty tool for pushing out social media updates to multiple simultaneous networks, and theoretically aggregating the results. badass, and would be highly useful for a business. too bad its a pay service, they’ve got a bit farther to go before it would be worth using by a small-time self-proclaimed media pundit such as myself.
Idea: We need an app for our smartphones that will allow the user to scan the barcode of any item at any store, and immediately show a “web of trust” style impartial rating and ranking of the poltical and economic policies of the company that produced it – and maybe the supply chain as well.
Of course I realize this would require creating a database of these corporate entities and their policies and views. So what, it needs to be done, and could be community maintained in the same way Ad Block+, Web of Trust or even PeerBlock’s lists are.
What will make it more popular is if it is truly impartial, since then it can be used by people on both sides of the partisan “aisle.”
